we are being asked, again and again: "what eight people are living in one caravan?" so after our tour through europe i made a video about what it looks like in here and i will take you through our home. it is not yet cleared out completely some things are still laying around in here, but you can take a good look at it. there was a little board in there, memorize that, i'll get to it later. it is for another bed we can put up every evening. these two beds here are permanent.
they were built at the back of the caravan, they extent it. i believe it used to be a garage for a motorcycle earlier. i am only sleeping on this sheepskin there is just this blanket underneath and that's it. i don't use a mattress anymore and i sleep very well. underneath this bed is a lot of storeroom. we have a lot of storeroom in this caravan, which is good for driftwood. so these were the two bunk beds. they both have a window and here is a step which can be extended. everything is very well thought-out.
here are two seats, but with the board we saw earlier we can make a bed out of them. and underneath here is a toilet, which i find very practical. we use it rarely and we don't put any chemicals in it, apart from orange concentrate. here are more compartments to store things inside. the windows are all very well sealed because of the mosquitos. the person we got this caravan from was in sweden and wanted to be protected. what i just opened was a cupboard where the bedsheets from this bed are going during the day. and i also showed the strips where the board is rested on. and on top of that we just put padding.
here we have a bigger bed. underneath is a table which can be extended while driving an the kids can sit there. and up there is a cupboard which can be opened and closed and there is a bed inside as well. this is our kitchen. it has four hotplates and is kept very simple. everybody has only one cupboard for oneself due to the lack of space. and because we are minimalistic this is absolutely fine and it also helps to be minimalistic. we like the fact that we can lead a spartan live for many months a year, everything is clear and we don't have to look after so much.
for us it is an advantage not to have so many cloths and things. we never have the problem of having too little space. it is a 7 tonne caravan. that was our refrigerator. it is beautifully built. the atmosphere in here is very nice, we love real wood. also the curtains and everything is very nicely done. we have gas with us. we have a big gas tank. the radiator works with gas as well as the refrigerator. but it also works with electricity. through this small hatch one can climb into the driver's cab.
but we can also close it, which comes in handy if we want to separate the rooms. we can also close curtains here on this bed for more privacy. and when the kids are sleeping and we still want to keep the lights on, we won't disturb them. in general we take each other into consideration. this is our home! little, but very nice.
