hello, so today we want to replace the blade on a lawn mower. we start out with a very important step. that is to remove the spark plug connector. we do not want the engine to accidentally start up while we are working close to the blade. now it is time to turn the mower on it’s side. make sure to lift it up on the side of the carburetor and the gas tank. we can now start to remove the blade. use a sturdy peace of wood to stop the blade from rotating, while we loosen the center screw. remember that the direction of how to loosen the screw is always the same direction as the sharp side of the blade. this is to prevent the screw from accidentally loosening during operation of the lawn mower. take care when the screw comes off.
your model may come with a couple of different washers, which will have to be in the correct order during the reassembly. now it is time to install the new blade. look for the little wings at the end of the blade. during installation make sure these are pointing up, towards the engine. as mentioned earlier, when installing the new blade, make sure all washers are at the same location as before. this mower has only a simple plate that holds the blade in place. in order to securely tighten the screw, i now place the piece of wood on the other side. now we can fasten the screw without any problems. when we are done, we make sure that the blade can rotate freely and does not hit any obstacles. after the lawn mower is back on it’s wheels do not forget to reconnect the spark plug!
