in the previous videos,we introduced smart lighting, and talked about the best piecesyou can use in your home. we do recommend watching the videos in order. now lets look at some practical tips, about how to get the best results from smart lighting. lets start with signal lights. the benefit of living in a smart home, is that all of your devices work together, so you can set the lights to flash red,

when the front dooror garage is opened. you'll know exactly when a thief is entering... or your wife. light signals can be used for a varietyof purposes in a smarthome. but you do not need to have a sophisticated home system, to make use of smart lighting. you can set the lamp to flash when you receive an e-mail, an sms, or an incoming call.

or do you prefer peace and quiet whenat home? if so, then you can set it to flashfor a particular phone number or e-mail. if you are waiting for a really important message, the light will flash when it arrives. everything else will be ignored. if it flashed every time i got a notification on my phone... i'd have strobe lights in my living room. with the app ifttt, or "if this, then that",

you can choose colours for specific days. red for valentine's day, or colourful loops on your birthday and new years eve. other applications used to controllight variations, will be shown in another video. one of the huge advantages of smart lightingis that it can be controlled from a distance. from as far as the garden,or even another continent. of course, you can flip the switch at home, or you can set a timer for them to come on atnight, discouraging potential thieves.

smart lighting is great for keeping trackof the hours of the day. in the hall or children's room, you canset the lights to dim around bedtime. there are also uses for when you wake up. that's not what i meant. in the morning, you can wake up gradually with the lights brightening, coming out a deep sleep towards the light, so getting out of bed is a little easier. great things can be acheived with smartled lightstrips. they can't serve as a primary source of illumination,

but they're great at creating a pleasantatmosphere. you can stick them behind the tv, around the living room, or along the hallway. even under the kitchen island, but be careful not to light upany dirty dishes! there are so many things that smart lighting can do. for example, with your voice you can controlamazon's aleza, apple home kit and google assistant. it also depends on what effects you want to achieve in your home.

personally, the feature i like the most, is how the light flashes when my favourite team scores. this is probably better suited to footballthan basketball. anyways, if you plan it right, you can use smart lighting to its max potential. and don't forget to check out our other videos, in the smart lighting series.
