hey guys, recently i have introduced you to the cl20 camping lantern by fenix and today it is supposed to be the cl25r. available in stores only recently and have to say i like it already very good. more on that now in the video. have fun the cl25r is an all season camping lantern makes a diffuse scattering light. by the maximum output of 350 lumens it is very suitable to illuminate larger places or camps. as the small predecessor you can place the light normally or hang on the hanging loop in the upper part for example inside a tent or simply on a branch. in combination with a geartie i could mount the lamp almost anywhere.
in the bottom piece is a powerful magnet, with which you can mount the lamp also on magnetic surfaces. perfect for a tire change in the dark or in similar situations. a further feature is the â¼ inch thread in the magnetic base. so you can get the lamp in height with a small or large tripod for better illumination. the magnetic base is also the closure of the battery compartment, which is, incidentally, made of very high quality stainless steel. after the unscrew, you can either run the light with the supplied 18650 battery with 2300mah or even with two cr123a batteries. protection against improper battery installation is also available. i run the lantern with a fenix arb l2s battery with 3400mah what increases the runtime significantly. as well, the performance with the supplied battery or cr123a batteries is impressive.
the information on the runtime can be found in the description. we come to another feature. the cold-resistant design inside the battery compartment, which allows to use the lantern even in down to minus 40 degrees. in addition, it also increases the runtime and low temperature performance as you can see on the graph here. but not only against low temperatures the light is protected. by the ipx6 standard but also from strong jets of water and dust. longer immersion in water, should be avoided. even minor falls from 1,5 meters height is no problem. after about 100 test falls i only had a few scratches and small dents on the edges. the electronics it has absolutely not mind. the cl25r made of high quality plastic and a highly transparent diffuser.
made of metal is only the battery compartment with bottom piece and the hanging loop. the exterior is quite simple. above you can find the operating button, by the way, glows in the dark and next to under the rubber cover the micro usb port for charging the battery. the cover should of course always be closed to ipx6 standard. front you can still find the fenix logo and on the other side the model name. let's take a look on the light. the cl25r has installed 12 neutral white leds and 6 red leds. with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. the light will turned on and off with press and hold quick the button.
here, the memory function remembers the last brightness level and starts at power again with this. more on that later. i start with the dark (moonlight) mode and 0.8 lumens with one click next we come to the middle mode 50lumen then the bright mode with 200 lumens and finally the brightest mode, the turbo mode with 350 lumens. after 10 minutes, the light switches automatically from turbo to high to protect against overheating. if the light is not hot, you can switch again to turbo mode without problems. double-click it reaches the red light with 1.5 lumens and with another click to the position light also with 1.5 lumens.
the red light mode is a great little warning light or for inconspicuous light up. with re double click you come back to the white light. here there is the already mentioned memory function. for example if you have selected the bright mode and the light turns off in this mode, it starts again with this. in red light mode that does not work, you cant start the light in the red light mode. let's take a look now on the charging and warning function. the fenix cl25r has a visual alert system that alerts you at a low voltage with a red blinking and remind you to replace the battery or batteries. in addition, the lighter modes will be disabled until the low mode at increasingly low voltage.
you can recharge the light either with an adapter via power outlet or on the move with a power bank or similar. the battery level indicator shows you the battery is being charged by a permanent red lights and then turns green when the battery is fully charged which takes with a empty battery about 2 and a half hours. against overcharging and over-discharge the fenix cl25r is also protected. another feature is the use of light with no battery to a socket or a battery pack. there you have the possibility to operate the light either in the middle mode, in dark mode but also in the red light mode. switching on the light while charging the battery is not recommended. in conclusion, the dimensions and the scope of delivery.
the cl25r is 9,9cm high has a diameter of 5.2 cm and weighs without battery 130gramm, thereto 50gramm for the battery. included in the delivery is still a replacement o-ring, the micro usb cable the 18650 battery with 2300mah and instructions but not in german. now we come to the conclusion. yes, here i am again. i like the cl25r really good. i like the design even better than its predecessor and with the max. 350 lumen has fenix also done everything right. you can also illuminate with the light very well or in a tent in the moonlight mode creates a pleasant brightness. the processing is as always very good and the operation is also very simple.
the idea with the tripod thread i also liked and the glowing operating button negative point was to me a slight buzz (because of the magnet) in the lighter modes me personally, it has not disturbed because the ambient noise are mostly louder anyway. i just wanted to have said for those who disturb something like that. otherwise, as in the predecessor, the missing memory mode during the red light that's it. by me anyway a clear recommendation. who does not know the flashlight store, check it out. there you will find the light even in olive green and of course also other interesting things. i hope you like and enjoy the video.
