today we will build a lamp finally, as promised to you! we don't have a fixed plan yet,only the materials. acacia! and we also have the belovedheart-paper ready! but i have to say, there went somethingwrong at the election. it was almost a serious fraud! a buddy of me started clicking on one andthe same paper over and over. becaus he thought it's funny. :-/
but we have a plan for that. the lamp will getinterchangable paper-frames! at least that's the plan... so the papers will beinterchangable! so let's get started! we start cutting the base. the project is growing by itself! the lamp will get 4 corner pillars. -stefan's cut all the parts for the lamp.
-and for better understanding i willtestfit all the pieces now. next is to shape the bottom pieces. after testfitting it all again wethink the whole lamp is to chunky. therefore i will cut the 4 pillarsdown to size. after the pillars are the right size we can now take care of the top piece. up next is the sanding of the pillarsfor a smooth touch. stefan's got the pillars sanded and we have seen that we have toresize the second bottom plate.
whitch is not a problem. the recess for the pillarswill be cut at the bandsaw. now that we have all parts cut... the next step is to prepare theinterchangable paperframes! done! at least this part. now it's time to get to the point. the paper!!!chosen by you! yes!!!chosen by you all! closely...
the all famous heart-paper,ladies and gentleman! and i will cut it with 'ye goode olderock paper scissors - scissors'. :-d spray-adhesive. next is to cut some feet. when cutting small pieces at the tablesaw with a repeated cut technique,or stop-block... it could get very painfulbecause of the danger of a kickback. because the stop-block could press theworkpiece against the blade the blade will catch that pieceand fire it back towards your face.
therefore i got a little trick for you. here's my stop-block...clamp. this is my workpiece and now i take this little block that i can remove before every cut so i have the right distance every time but no danger of a kick-back. coming up: the electrics. here we got our nice little oldschool lamp socket.
we tinker a little strain relief. in movable electrical devicesthis is a precept! strain reliefed! :) wonderful! we've straped the lamp together to find optimal connection-points betweenthe top piece and the pillars. check this out: special wo-wo-me-moclamping technique! that is woodworking for mere mortalsby steve ramsey! check his channel!
